Krispy Kreme will charge us $4 a dozen and we can sell them for what we want. If we order over a hundred dozen, the price drops to $3.50 a dozen.
John F.'s yard sale, originally scheduled for Apr. 13th, was moved to May 11th. Place to be announced as determined.

Coming Up
March 2nd-Ski trip (location to be determined after Paul's report to PLC)
March 16th-Scouting for Food.

Klondike
Feb. 15-17th. 14 or 15 scouts probably going, so 5 adults needed. Andy will check equipment needs of new scouts going.

PLC- In reforming patrols, it was decided to form into 4 patrols so as to better accommodate the new scouts coming from Webelos. PLC suggested a fifth patrol, possibly to be called the Leadership Corp, which would be a patrol for activities among themselves, but for troop camp-outs they would be assigned as a sort of troop guide to help out with a younger patrol. Requirements for this patrol were discussed.

New Webelos
A long discussion centered around concerns over the number of new scouts it seems we will have joining the troop this spring (potentially 15). At this time it was decided that a cut-off number will not be needed, especially if the new scouts bring along new adult leadership.

It was suggested that an Assistant Scoutmaster is needed to work with the new scouts. John F. suggested it would be better to have 2 leaders cover this position, so if one could not make the meeting, the other should. He nominated Kerry W. for this position, with himself, John F., assisting Kerry. This was approved.

High Adventure Trip
The previously planned trip to North Padre Island has been put on hold until next summer, 2003. Robert D. has done lots of planning of activities which will be pursued next summer (marine biology studies and sleeping on board a decommissioned aircraft carrier). The trip was postponed for the following reasons: ship activity needed a rninimum of 15 scouts, only 7 or 8 showed interest, too late to raise money needed to fly, 4 days of driving time is too long. It was suggested that he put out a flyer at the next Court of Honor trying to make parents aware of this trip possibility sooner so fund-raising on the scouts' part can begin now.

The PLC brainstormed other options and voted for a bike trip in the Moab area of Utah the week of June 3rd through 8th. Two days will be needed for travel there and back, leaving 4 days of activities. Requirements to attend: age 13 and achieved First Class, achieved First Aid Merit Badge, safety gear needed for hiking: helmet, gloves, patch kit, water bottle racks on bike or camelback backpack for water. Probable cost will be $150. Preliminary planning of activities was discussed.

Ski Trip Safety
Nancy H. brought up concerns about the safety of scouts skiing without direct adult supervision on the scout ski trips. Her son broke his arm on the past trip and required surgery. Even though an adult nearby may not have prevented that accident, the concern was more over whether the scouts are being properly supervised if they are not with an adult while skiing on the mountain. It was decided to bring this concern to the District Roundtable Meeting to see what procedures other troops might have in place on this issue.

Next committee meeting is Wed. Feb. 27th at 7 pm at Terry M's house. All parents are welcome!
