Boy Scout Troop 188 Committee Meeting

January 5, 2000

Present: Norm B., Terry M., Roberta T., Greg I. Minutes from 12/2 were read and approved.

Treasurer's Report: (At the meeting, a ballpark figure was given as certain receipts
were not available at the time. The following information is correct as given). The
Troop checking account has $ 586.60. Of this, $ 268.18 is being held in Individual
Scout Accounts. Therefore the "usable"balance of the Troop's account is $ 318.42.
Money from Matt R.'s account was reverted back to the troop; this procedure follows
Troop policy.

Checking account transactions 12/01/99-1/05/00:

12/01 1045 Long's Peak Council - rechartering        -$401.00
12/01 1046 Long's Peak Council - Quality Unit Awards -$ 21.60
12/17 1047 Long's Peak Council - popcorn order    -$297.48
01/03 1048 Timberline Self-Storage             - $ 29.50

Rechartering money is being collected; $15.00 was due 11/1 and the remainder ($35.00) is due 2/1/00. Money from Scout accounts can be applied to this balance;
Roberta will have updated account information as soon as popcorn money is collected
and deposited.

Norm stated that a breakdown of summer camp fees needs to be developed; the committee determined the following:

Scouts:
$15.00 due by 2/15/00
$65.00 due by 3/14/00
$60.00 due by 4/11/00. If not paid in full by this date, an additional
$10.00 is due to the Troop payable by May 1st.
Adults:
$15.00 due by 2/15/00
$20.00 due by 3/14/00
$20.00 due by 4/11/00. If not paid in full by this date, an additional
$10.00 is due to the Troop payable by May 1st.

This information will be distributed to parents at the January 25th parent meeting.
Information about Klondike and merit badges will also be presented at this time.

Calendar:

1/08 - MBU Part 1. Will be at Front Range Community College at 8:00 am.
7 boys from the troop are attending. Greg I. will call scouts to
remind them of this information. Class A shirts are to be worn.
1/15 - MBU Part 2.
1/22 - Ski and Snowboard trip to Snowy Range - this was moved from 1/15 due
to MBU.
2/25-27 - Klondike Campout at Gould, CO. $7.00 per person pre-registered by
2/21. Check in is 12:00 noon.
3/4 - Snowboarding trip - Keystone, CO

Old Business:

1. A check for camping items still needs to be given to Les B.'s troop.

2. Patrol boxes - waiting for prototype from Art S. The committee is shooting for
completion by Klondike.

3. Norm and Terry are planning to move equipment into the storage unit on Sunday,
January 9th beginning at 10:00 a.m.

New Business:

1. Patrol flags - Terry has offered to purchase canvas for 3 flags. These will be
decorated with fabric pens and hemmed to a standardized size.

2. The Troop needs a new American flag. The old one can be retired at a campout.
Terry will check on prices for a new one, and will look into donations also.

3. A troop librarian is needed. This will be mentioned to the boys at the next PLC
(January 11th). This is a boy-held position.

4. District Recognition Dinner - Terry announced that the District would like Troop 188
to again host this function, this time to be held at Rocky Mountain High School on
February 4, 2000. Norm has already arranged for use of the facility. The Troop will
receive $3.50 a person. Terry will call John and Gerri F. for their help in planning for
food totals and community donations. Terry will let the committee members know when the necessary planning meeting will be held.

The next committee meeting will be held at Linton on February 3, 2000 at 7:00.
