Boy Scout Troop 188 Committee Meeting

April 6, 2000

Present: Norm B., Terry M., Loren D., Greg l.,Anna Marie E., Nancy H.

Due to transferring of Roberta T.'s former position of secretary-treasurer into 2 new positions of Nancy H. as secretary and Anna Marie E. as treasurer, there was no formal reading of the previous meeting's minutes, nor was a treasurer's report given. These duties will be resumed at the next meeting with it being decided that Anna Marie would type up a separate treasurer's report to be attached to Nancy's meeting minutes.

Old Business:

1. Patrol boxes from Art S. Terry will contact him.

New Business:

1. Instructions and information were turned over to Nancy and Anna Marie as the new secretary and treasurer for the troop. They were given leader forms to complete and return.

2. Because of the new positions filled, Jim V. and Roberta T. will no longer be signers on Troop 188's checking account. It was decided to instead replace those names with those of Anna Marie E. and Nancy H., who will now be signers on the account along with Norm B. and Terry M. The account is account number XXXXXXX at the First State Bank in Fort Collins.

3. Summer camp - Need to find out who still owes what for summer camp. Terry will call those on the roster as a reminder that they have paid or owe. $140 is due by 4/1 1 or the cost increases to $150. Payment in full is due by 4/25.
Adults must pay $55 by 4/1 1 and $65 by the 25th. We've registered 1 6 boys and 5 adults with confirmation being received. Norm is still waiting to receive the leader's packet of information to distribute more info. to the boys (it will contain info. on requirements needing to be completed prior to camp).

4. Camp out 4/14 -4/16 at BDSR. Norm will make sure we get a tour permit and Terry will check on availability of Rotary Lodge to camp at. The Webelos den invited has not responded back yet. Greg will write up permission slips. About 13-15 boys will be going.

5. Trip to IMAX and the Denver Zoo 4/29 will leave Linton at 9 a.m. Need to get a head count at next meeting to purchase tickets in advance, if possible. Greg will call ahead for reservations and make the permission slips.

6. Spring Camporee 5/19 -5/21 at Camp Coffin will cost $6 per boy, $10 per unit. The boys will be working on I st year requirements and merit badge introductions.

7. Discussed acquiring Space Exploration Merit Badge books. Greg l. has volunteered to assist Kirk S. as merit badge counselor for this badge.

8. High Adventure trip 7/6-7/12 to Lake Powell. Norm will get a head count at next meeting so Terry can inquire about prices for the appropriate size boat that will be needed. To go on this trip boys must be at least 13, have 1st Class or higher ranking and have obtained the following: Swimming Merit Badge,
Life-Saving Merit Badge, Safety Afloat, and Safe Swim Defense.

9. Possible Color Guard opportunity at Coors Field this summer. Terry will try to arrange this.

10. Wrote check #1055 to Jerry S. as reimbursement for neckerchiefs for the following new members of the troop: Cab E., Scott J., Josh M., David E., and Tony B..

11. Roundtable meeting 4/13, 7:30 p.m. at Harmony Presbyterian. Greg will attend.

12. At next scout meeting, parents will be asked to sign-up their e-mail addresses to be able to receive these minutes and other scout info. via e-mail.

13. Next Committee Meeting, 5/4, 7:00 p.m. at Greg I's house. New business will be to discuss incentives for an Honor Scout Award to be designed to encourage the scouts to show improved responsibility at the weekly meetings.

Calendar:

4/11 - $140 due for summer camp.
4/14 -4/16 - Camp out at BDSR.
4/25 - Summer camp must be paid in full.
4/29 - Trip to IMAX and Denver Zoo. Leave Linton at 9 a.m.
5/4 - Next Committee Meeting at Greg Ivan's house, 7 p.m.
5/19 - 5/21 - Spring Camporee at Camp Coffin.
5/30 - Next Court of Honor, Linton, 7 p.m.
