Boy Scout Troop 188 Committee Meeting

February 7, 1999


Present: Norm B., Terry M., Roberta T., John F., and Dick H.

January 17th's minutes were approved.

Treasurer's Report: The Troop checking account has $1451.58. The Greeley account has $58.50.

Checking Account transactions 1/17-2/6/99:

1017 1/17 Long's Peak Council $200.00 -Summer camp reserv.

1018 1/26 Postmaster $ 33.00 -Stamps

1019 2/05 Yancey's $168.30 -District Dinner Food

-Nic B., Paul E., Phillip T. and Ryan V. owe $34.00 each for dues. -John H. owes $50.00 plus last year's pro-rated amount of $12.75. Roberta asked Norm to call John H. and verify whether he is still interested in the troop.

Troop Meeting Itinerary:

February 9 - Klondike menus and equipment review

February 16 - PRPA - CPR demonstration by Eagle Scout or Red Cross volunteer

February 23 - PLC, OA elections, Klondike planning February 26 - Klondike Derby through February 28. EMS will give special snowshoe rental rates.

Long term planning: Norad has cancelled all tours at the facility.

March 20: Food drive.

March 27: Ski trip.

March 31: Webelos bridging ceremony.

April 17-18: Campout at Pingree Park.

May 4, 11: Boards of Review

May 14-16: Spring Camporee

May 18: Court of Honor. Quality Unit Awards and Service Stars will be given at this time.

June 11-17: High Adventure mountain bike trip to Moab, Utah (note date change). For 1st class + 13 yrs and older. The committee estimated costs to be approximately $100.00 per person. More information to follow.

June 27 - July 3: Summer camp at Camp Laramie Peak. Registration deposit of $200.00 has been sent to reserve the Omaha campsite for the troop. The troop has met its 1999 FOS goal; therefore, camp fees will amount to $115.00 per boy. Fee payment: $10.00 per scout upon reservation, $40.00 by 2/1, $40.00 by 3/15 and the remainder ($25.00) due by 5/1.

District Recognition Dinner: Troop 188 hosted the District Recognition Reception at the McNeil Performing Arts Center (FCHS) on Friday, February 5. Most of the early feedback given to the Troop about the setup, food and awards format was positive. Terry M. received the Spark Plug award for the Troop and the District Award of Merit. Thank you letters will be sent to Fort Collins Nursery, Sunshine Coffee Company, Yancey's Food Service Supplier, Mary's Mountain Cookies and Fort Collins High School. A public thank you to these sponsors will also be sent to the newspaper. It should be noted that Terry M. provided the sausage and soda for the reception. Terry would like to do something special (i.e. laser tag outing) for the scouts that helped at this event.
