Patrol reorganization seems to be working; troop communication
problems are
still occurring. The City council meeting was cited as an example
where better
communication follow-up is needed.
Loren D. reported on feedback he received following the last
Court of Honor.
He stated the following:
1. More leadership is needed regarding troop discipline.
Boys should be strongly encouraged to take the Junior Leadership
Training.
The Committee may make this a requirement for Senior Patrol Leaders,
Assistant
Senior Patrol Leaders and all Patrol Leaders. Training dates will
be looked
into and the information will be given to the boys.
2. Presentations given by boys at the weekly troop meetings
need to be
more informative. A session on how to start earning merit badges
needs to
be given by adult leaders at a troop meeting. General guidelines
describing
how to find merit badge counselors, what information needs to
be presented,
what merit badges are needed for rank advancement, expectations,
etc. should
be coverered. Merit Badge Counselors need be be recruited by the
Troop.
3. There needs to be a greater emphasis on patrol unity. Working
on patrol
flags and yells can help accomplish this.
4. Another cooking session is needed - the boys are tiring
of Ramen noodles.
Leaders need to present recipes, cooking techniques, meal suggestions.
